Bank of Baroda Employees File Harassment Complaint Against Senior Officials in Burdwan Region

A letter is going viral on social media. As per the letter, a group of employees from Bank of Baroda’s Burdwan Region have filed a formal complaint with the bank’s MD & CEO against Regional Manager (RM) Rajesh Das and Deputy Regional Manager (DRM) Prabhat Jha. The employees have accused the two senior officials of misconduct, harassment, and creating a hostile and unsafe work environment.

Allegations of Abusive Language

The employees said that the RM and DRM frequently used abusive and insulting words in meetings. Some of the statements mentioned in the complaint include:

The complaint also says that the RM once threatened staff by saying: “RO bulao sabko aur diwar ki taraf muh karke dinbhar khada kar do”. Another remark included: “Sabke GPS through check karo – kaha jate hai, kya karte hai?” (Check everyone’s GPS – where they go, what they do).

The employees said such words were not only humiliating but also created fear among the staff.

Pressure of Excessive Reporting

According to the complaint, employees are under continuous pressure to send hourly and daily reports. They are forced to share updates on account opening, customer meetings, and other tasks, even beyond working hours. Staff members said they get constant calls and WhatsApp messages from the RM and DRM, and those who fail to respond are insulted in WhatsApp groups.

Misuse of Performance Monitoring System

The employees also accused the officials of misusing the GEMS system (a performance monitoring tool). Staff are threatened to maintain a perfect score of 100 out of 100. Anyone scoring less is humiliated in meetings, threatened with transfers, and subjected to more abusive remarks.

Impact on Employees

The complaint states that the actions of RM and DRM have badly affected staff morale. Employees are facing mental stress, health issues, and low confidence. They said this toxic environment is also harming productivity and customer service at branches.
