A serious incident occurred at the main branch of Bank of Baroda located near Hathi Park in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. A portion of the false ceiling inside the bank suddenly collapsed while regular business activities were underway.
Luckily, there were no customers or staff members present in the area where the ceiling fell. This helped avoid any injuries or loss of life. However, the falling ceiling caused damage to office furniture and computer systems inside the bank.
After the incident, an internal inquiry revealed that the Bank of Baroda branch is running in an old rented building. The walls and roof have become weak and damaged over time, raising serious concerns about the safety of the premises. To cover up the deteriorating condition of the structure, the bank management had installed plywood and PVC sheets, hiding the actual state of the building.
As per various media reports, when local media arrived at the scene to cover the ceiling collapse, the bank officials reportedly misbehaved with reporters. They even tried to stop them from taking photos or recording videos of the damaged ceiling. This behavior raised further questions about the bank’s transparency in handling the matter.
The Hathi Park branch of Bank of Baroda is usually crowded with customers, especially during business hours. The collapse of the ceiling, even without injuries this time, has increased concerns over the safety of both employees and visitors. Locals and customers are now urging the bank to take immediate action to shift the branch to a safer and structurally sound building.
