In a scathing attack on the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the All India Punjab National Bank Workers Organisation (AIPNBWO) – affiliated with the National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW) and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) – has accused UFBU’s constituent factions of hypocrisy over the ongoing push for a 5-day work week and Industrial Relation (IR) rights in the banking sector.
In an official circular issued on August 6, 2026, signed by General Secretary Manmohan Gupta, the AIPNBWO sharply criticized the seven leftist and major constituent unions of UFBU—AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBOC, and INBEF – labeling them “double-faced” regarding their stance on bank employees’ welfare.
Controversy Over 5-Day Banking
The AIPNBWO said that momentum for 5-day banking was driven by NOBW and BMS representatives, who directly took up the issue with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. AIPNBWO alleged that UFBU does not want to implement 5-day banking and the demonstrations announced on 12 August are just a formality.
Clash Over Industrial Relation (IR) Rights
Recently, the DFS has issued orders requiring bank management to also conduct meetings with minority unions. AIPNBWO said that this has angered the majority unions. The majority unions wrote letters to the DFS to withdraw its order, and bank management should conduct meetings with majority unions only. But the DFS released one more order in late July and asked to comply with its earlier order. AIPNBWO said this was a major win for minority unions and has angered the majority unions.
The AIPNBWO alleged that major unions fear losing millions of rupees in union levies if bipartite negotiations are streamlined efficiently through government dialogue.

UFBU के सात दोगले

NOBW के कार्यकर्ताओं ने BMS के साथ मिलकर वित्तमन्त्री श्रीमती निर्मला सीतारमण के सामने 5 days Banking का विषय गम्भीरता से क्या रख दिया कि UFBU के सातों साम्यवादी घटकों को जोरदार मिर्ची लगी। क्योंकि इन सातों ने कभी चाहा ही नहीं था कि बैंक में 5 days Banking हो। अब अचानक आनन-फानन में 12 अगस्त को केवल एक विषय लेकर साम्यवादियों ने स्टेट कैपिटल पर प्रदर्शन रख दिया।
दूसरा, NOBW ने सभी यूनियन्स को IR का अधिकार दिलवाया। जैसे ही IR के विषय में 10.7.2026 को DFS का पत्र आया, तथाकथित 3 बड़ी यूनियन Active हो गई और भारत सरकार को IR न देने का पत्र लिख दिया। ‘सोने पे सुहागा’ तो तब हुआ जब 30.7.2026 को DFS ने और साफ कर दिया कि सभी यूनियन्स के साथ सभी बैंक Industrial Relation Meeting (IR) करेंगे।
मित्रों, यह तो होना ही था। इन दोगलों और देश द्रोहियों के साथ बैंक कामगारों के हित के लिए हम 30 साल साथ रहे। AIBEA द्वारा केरल में सरेआम गाय काटना, हमास ( आतंकी संगठन ) यूनियन फण्ड से पैसा देना। कभी भी ‘भारत माता की जय’ और ‘वन्देमातरम्’ नहीं बोलना, जैसे कितने ही इनके घोर कदाचारी कृत्य हैं। लेकिन अब, जब हम सरकार से बात करके द्विपक्षीय समझौता भी समय पर लागू होने की बात करते हैं तो इन्हें लगता है कि हमारी करोड़ों रुपये की लेवी चली जायेगी।
अब NOBW के कार्यकर्ता बैंक कामगारों के लिए स्वतन्त्र श्वांस लेकर खुले मन से और अधिक काम करेंगे।
