A case of suspicious transactions worth more than Rs 1.27 crore has come to light in Kirawali, where a current account was allegedly opened fraudulently in the name of an agricultural machinery dealer. Following a complaint by businessman Govind Singh and an order from the Agra court, Kirawali police have registered a case against the accused and started an investigation.
Govind Singh runs Shyam Agro Agency, an agricultural machinery business in Kirawali. According to the complaint, his neighbour Ravi approached him in 2024 and offered to work as a salesman for his business. As per complaint filed, Ravi allegedly colluded with an employee of Canara Bank’s Kirawali branch to open a new current account in Govind’s name without his knowledge.
The complaint states that Ravi later obtained the SIM card linked to the newly opened bank account on the pretext of handling business accounts. With the alleged help of the bank employee, the SIM card was misused to carry out transactions through the account.
Whether bank employees were involved in this fraud has not yet been established. They may have carried out their duties in good faith and trusted the parties involved, but the fraudsters may have misused that trust.
Subsequently, transactions totalling Rs 1,27,31,500 were carried out through the account, and money was transferred to several entities, including A.R. Enterprises, DGBMT Industries, Durgam Plate House and Mohit Garments. Govind was reportedly unaware of these transactions because he usually conducted his business dealings through his Punjab National Bank account.
The matter came to light last month when Govind received a notice from the Income Tax Department regarding a substantial amount of money. He checked his bank records and was shocked to discover the transactions linked to the account that he claimed he had not knowingly opened.

Govind then submitted a written complaint at the Kirawali police station, but an FIR was not registered. He subsequently sent a formal complaint to senior police officials by registered post, seeking action against those responsible. However, when no concrete action followed, he approached the Agra court for justice.
Following the court’s intervention, Kirawali police registered a case against the accused under the relevant sections of the law. Station House Officer Madan Singh said the case had been registered on the basis of the court’s order and the complainant’s application. He added that a detailed investigation was underway and strict legal action would be taken based on the evidence collected.
