NABARD employees have announced their support for the three-day bank strike scheduled from September 28 to September 30, 2026. The decision was taken at a meeting of the All India NABARD Employees’ Association (AINBEA) on September 25. As a mark of support for bank employees and officers participating in the strike under the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), NABARD employees will organise lunch-hour demonstrations across the country on September 29.

AINBEA said the main issue is the delay in introducing five-day banking. The association said the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) had agreed to five-day banking under the bipartite settlement, but the Government has not yet approved it. According to AINBEA, bank employees and officers are already facing heavy work pressure, and having five working days could help them maintain a better work-life balance.

AINBEA also supported UFBU’s opposition to the performance-linked incentive scheme, which the association said was being introduced unilaterally. It said the issue could affect the unity of bank employees and officers.

The association also linked the five-day banking issue with other concerns, including bank consolidation and privatisation. It said several issues concerning NABARD employees, including compassionate appointments, have also been pending with the Department of Financial Services (DFS) for a long time.

AINBEA has asked the Government and IBA to step in and resolve the issues through talks. The association said that a solution should be found through discussions rather than allowing the situation to escalate. The statement was issued by AINBEA President Jose T. Abraham on September 25, 2026.
