In a shocking incident on Sunday night, a youth tried to set fire to a branch of Punjab and Sind Bank located in Gandhian village of Dina Nagar, Gurdaspur district, Punjab. According to reports, the young man poured petrol outside the bank and lit it on fire, which led to damage on the outer part of the building.
Thankfully, the bank’s iron shutter was closed at the time, which stopped the fire from spreading inside. Because of this, all the important items inside the bank—including cash, computers, furniture, and other documents—remained completely safe and undamaged.
Incident Captured on CCTV
Branch Manager Sandeep Atri informed that CCTV footage shows a man setting the fire around 12 midnight. The accused had covered his face with a cloth to hide his identity. In the video, he can be seen pouring petrol outside the entrance of the bank and then lighting it on fire.

Villager Informs the Bank, Police Begins Probe
The incident came to light early on Monday morning, around 6 AM, when a local villager noticed signs of the fire and immediately informed the bank manager. The police were called to the spot soon after and started an investigation.
Police officials are currently trying to identify the accused with the help of the CCTV footage. Interestingly, during the incident, a large ball of fire erupted, and in the hurry to escape, one of the slippers of the accused was left behind at the scene. Investigators believe the youth ran away in panic after the fire got out of control.
Police on the Hunt for the Accused
The police are now examining all the CCTV footage from the area and collecting evidence, including the slipper, to trace the identity of the person responsible. Locals are also being questioned to find any leads.
