Recently, a case has come to light wherein a kiosk operator has withdrawn money from accounts of Bank customers. Women affected by an embezzlement case at a mini bank in Do-GB village, located in Jaitsar of Anupgarh district, staged a fierce protest on Thursday. Frustrated by the lack of action, they entered the bank premises, arguing with officials and demanding their deposited money back. The protest ended after police intervened and convinced the women to leave.

Protest Escalates Inside the Bank

The day began with women gathering outside the bank, accusing the management of failing to take the embezzlement case seriously. As their frustration grew, they stormed into the bank, demanding immediate reimbursement of their deposits. The heated exchange between the protesters and bank employees lasted for hours before police officers arrived to restore order.

Indefinite Sit-In Continues

The protest is part of an ongoing indefinite sit-in by villagers, which began after the embezzlement case was uncovered. The mini bank, operating under the Three GB Gram Seva Sahakari Samiti of Sri Ganganagar Central Cooperative Bank, is accused of mishandling funds belonging to 444 account holders. The villagers had earlier announced plans for a large gathering, or Maha Panchayat, to amplify their demands.

Officials Attempt to Mediate

In response to the protests, senior officials, including MD Sanjay Garg of the Ganganagar Central Cooperative Bank, investigation officer Suresh Kumar, and nodal officer Pawan Kumar Sharma, arrived at the scene to hold discussions with the account holders. However, the talks failed to produce a resolution, further aggravating tensions.

Scuffle Inside the Bank

Following the unsuccessful negotiations, the women entered the bank and clashed with employees, demanding immediate action. Police officers present at the scene eventually managed to remove the protesters from the premises after lengthy discussions.

Call for Accountability

The account holders have expressed deep dissatisfaction with the bank’s handling of the situation and are demanding immediate restitution of their funds. The indefinite sit-in and protests are expected to continue until their demands are met.
