A major commotion broke out at the Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank branch in Acharukla village, located in the Shikarpur tehsil area, on Tuesday. A large group of women members of Self Help Group (SHG) gathered to protest against the branch manager. These women said that the bank was showing negligence in processing their Cash Credit Limit (CCL) and handling other important banking tasks related to their group.
According to the women, they had made repeated requests to the branch for completing the CCL process, but the manager kept delaying the work without any valid reason. They also accused him of rude and unprofessional behavior whenever they visited the bank. Frustrated with the lack of response, the women locked the main gate of the bank and began a sit-in protest right outside the branch, raising slogans against the branch manager.
As soon as news of the protest reached higher officials, the regional manager of the bank arrived at the spot. He spoke with the protesting women and tried to calm the situation. The regional manager assured them that their complaints would be taken seriously and that strict action would be initiated, if necessary. He also requested the women to submit a written complaint so that the matter could be formally investigated under the bank’s rules and procedures.
After receiving this assurance, the women agreed to end the protest and the gate of the bank was reopened. The situation got under control, and normal banking operations got resumed. An internal inquiry has been initiated to look into the complaints made by the women against the branch manager.
