A healthy work environment is not just a matter of comfort—it’s a necessity for productivity, employee well-being, and customer satisfaction. At Bank of Baroda, the commitment to enhancing workplace conditions has recently taken a significant step forward, thanks to the proactive response of the Regional Manager of Baroda District Region (BDR).
In India, Public Sector Banks witness high number of customers daily and thus, it’s very important to install AC in branches. In majority of the branches, AC are not in working condition. The branches are totally closed due to security reasons to avoid robbery. Due to this, branches don’t have proper ventilation facility. Thus, in this condition, if AC does not work, then it becomes very difficult for employees to work.

Earlier this year, the Bank of Baroda Officers’ Association (BOBOA), Baroda District Region, raised an important concern regarding the lack of air conditioning in multiple branches across the region. The rising temperatures in Gujarat and high footfall in these branches had led to growing discomfort among both employees and customers.
In a letter dated March 3, 2025, BOBOA highlighted that 12 branches, including Chikhodara, Vasna, Tanakahala, Maretha, Bhadam, Naswadi, Por, Jarod, Varnama, Suryaghoda, Kadipani, and Uchapan, were either missing air conditioning systems altogether or were operating with outdated units. The association emphasized that:
- Extreme heat impacts employee efficiency and morale
- Customer experience is also negatively affected
- Basic facilities like AC, washrooms, drinking water, and seating should not be linked to business performance
- A comfortable workspace should be viewed as a fundamental right, not a reward
The letter urged the regional management to treat this issue with the urgency it deserved.
A Prompt and Positive Response
The Bank of Baroda management quickly resolved the issue. The management team quickly ordered the installation of AC in branches. The association has acknowledged and appreciated the swift action taken by the Regional Manager. In their follow-up letter, BOBOA thanked the management for its quick and considerate response.
The association said that this action of management:
- Provided immediate relief to staff during the peak of summer
- Boosted employee morale
- Demonstrated a strong commitment to staff welfare and operational efficiency
A Step in the Right Direction
This gesture by the Baroda District Region’s management sets a positive example of responsive leadership. It shows that the concerns of frontline employees are being heard and addressed promptly. BOBOA expressed hope that this cooperation would continue and that employee welfare will remain a top priority in the bank’s broader goals of performance and service excellence.
Final Thoughts
Workplace comfort should never be overlooked. As India continues to face extreme weather conditions, simple yet impactful actions—like ensuring proper air conditioning—can go a long way in building a motivated, satisfied, and high-performing workforce. Bank of Baroda’s swift action in this matter is a reminder that people-centric leadership always pays off. It has become a model for other public sector banks also.
