UP Cooperative Bank Officer and Deed Writer Caught Accepting Rs.20,000 Bribe in Maharajganj
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Gorakhpur, carried out a major operation on Tuesday in the Chowk police station area of Maharajganj district. During the operation, the ACB team caught two persons red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000.
The accused have been identified as Hare Ram Prasad, an Assistant Field Officer with the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Village Development Bank, and Jay Om, a deed writer. Hare Ram Prasad is a resident of Sonadi village in Deoria district, while Jay Om belongs to Bahrampur village in the Paniyara police station area.
According to officials, the complaint was filed by Satyam, a resident of Darhata Tola Lalpur village under the Chowk police station area. He alleged that his father, Chhotelal, had obtained a loan from the Land Development Bank. However, bank-related personnel were allegedly demanding a 10% commission to complete the loan process and move the file forward.
The complainant informed the ACB that Assistant Field Officer Hare Ram Prasad and another person were demanding a bribe for releasing the second installment of his father’s loan. After verifying the complaint, the ACB Trap Team planned a sting operation.
On Tuesday at around 12:45 PM, the Trap Team conducted a raid at a restaurant near Theki Crossing in the Chowk Nagar Panchayat area. During the operation, Hare Ram Prasad and Jay Om were caught red-handed while accepting ₹20,000 from the complainant.
After the arrest, both accused were taken to the Chowk Police Station. Legal proceedings were initiated against them under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Chowk Police Station SHO Manish Patel confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Hare Ram Prasad and Jay Om under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further legal action is being taken in the case.
