SBI has ordered to open branches on 27 September 2026 which is a holiday. The decision has been taken in view of upcoming 3-day strike from 28 to 30 September 2026.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has permitted banks to remain operational on Sunday to ensure the continuity of banking services and reduce inconvenience to customers. The Ministry of Finance had also issued a press note on September 23, 2026, stating that all Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks would function normally on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
According to the SBI circular, Sunday, September 27, 2026, will be treated as a normal working day for the bank. All SBI branches and offices, administrative offices, verticals and other establishments will remain operational and function normally on that day.
The respective Circles, Verticals and Administrative Offices have been instructed to make the necessary arrangements for smooth operations and ensure proper deployment of staff at branches and offices.
All branches and offices have been asked to contact the Police Station having jurisdiction over the respective branch or office through a formal letter and request enhanced police patrolling in and around the branch and other critical bank assets on September 27.
SBI has also ordered to maintain security arrangements during the proposed strike period from September 28 to September 30, 2026. Branches and offices have also been instructed to maintain records of such communication and follow up with the police authorities wherever required.
