SBI Branch Manager arrested in Jharkhand in Bribery Case
A Branch Manager of India’s largest public sector bank – State Bank of India, has been arrested in a Bribery Case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Branch Manager, SBI, Dumaria Branch, Godda, Jharkhand on 01.06.2026, in a bribery case.
The case was registered on 31.05.2026 on allegations that the accused public servant demanded Rs.60,000 as bribe for processing the claim under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana policy amounting to Rs.2,00,000 pertaining to the complainant’s deceased mother.
The accused had also demanded an additional bribe of Rs.17,000 to remove the hold on the withdrawal of Rs.35,000 after transfer of the bank account of the complainant’s mother in favour of the complainant.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. 77,000 from the complainant.
The accused Branch Manager was produced before the Competent Court in Dhanbad on 2nd June 2026.
The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released soon.
In another update, CBI has arrested a Junior Assistant, working in the office of the Superintending Engineer, PHE Mechanical Urban Circle, Narwal, Jammuin a bribery case.
The CBI registered the case on 24.05.2026 against the accused based on a complaint alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 4,500 from the complainant for processing and clearing the pension case of the complainant. The accused had shared the QR Code through WhatsApp for receiving the alleged bribe amount.
The CBI laid a trap on 24.05.2026 and caught the accused for receiving the bribe amount from the complainant through QR code. Subsequently, the accused Junior Assistant was arrested on 25.05.2026.
