SBI appoints New CGM in Bhubaneswar and Chennai circles

State Bank of India (SBI) has appointed two new Chief General Managers (CGMs) in Bhubaneswar and Chennai.

SBI has appointed Ratna Teja Dinakara Akella as chief general manager (CGM) of Bhubaneswar circle and Vivekanand Choubey as CGM of Chennai circle.

Akella, who began his career as a Probationary Officer in 1994, brings with him 31 years of rich experience in the banking sector. Throughout his career, he has worked across various domains including retail operations, corporate credit, foreign exchange, MSME, and more. His expertise spans both domestic banking operations and international assignments at SBI’s overseas branches.

Meanwhile, Vivekanand Choubey has taken charge as the Chief General Manager (CGM) of the State Bank of India’s Chennai Circle. This circle encompasses 1,282 branches across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and manages a business portfolio of ₹4.80 trillion.

A seasoned professional with over 27 years in the banking industry, Mr. Choubey joined SBI as a Probationary Officer in 1998. Over the years, he has held several key leadership positions both in India and abroad. His previous roles include heading the Retail Banking (NRI) division in the UK and serving as Special Secretary and Executive Secretary to the Chairman at SBI’s Corporate Centre, as per an official release.
