The Finance Ministry on Tuesday fixed the ceiling for computing a non-productivity linked bonus (ad hoc bonus) for central government employees at Rs 7,000 for 2022-23. This is a significant decision by the government ahead of Diwali next month.
In an office memorandum, the Department of Expenditure under the Finance Ministry said that the non-productivity linked bonus (ad hoc bonus) equivalent to 30 days of emoluments for the accounting year 2022-23 has been granted to the central government employees in Group ‘C’.
The bonus is also applicable to all non-gazetted employees in Group ‘B’, who were not covered by any productivity-linked bonus scheme.
“The ceiling for payment of ad hoc bonus under these orders will be monthly emoluments of Rs 7,000,” it said.
The payment of ad hoc bonus will also be admissible to the eligible employees of the central paramilitary forces and armed forces.
To qualify for the bonus, a government employee must have been in service as of March 31, 2023, and have worked continuously for at least six months during the fiscal year. Pro-rata payment will be given to eligible employees based on their period of continuous service during the year.
