Rs 30 Lakh looted from SBI ATM in Telangana in Just 4 Minutes

In a daring heist, four masked men broke into an SBI ATM kiosk in Telangana’s Rangareddy district and looted nearly Rs 30 lakh in just four minutes. The robbery took place in the early hours of Sunday and was captured on CCTV inside the kiosk.

How the Robbery Unfolded

At 1:56 AM, a man stepped out of a car and walked towards the ATM kiosk. He sprayed a substance on the CCTV camera at the entrance to prevent recording. The gang also cut the emergency siren wires to avoid alerting authorities. However, they failed to disable the CCTV inside, which recorded the entire crime.

Three men, armed with an iron rod and a gas cutter, forced open the ATM while a fourth stood guard outside. Within minutes, they managed to steal Rs 29.69 lakh from the cash dispenser. At 2:00 AM, they rolled down the kiosk shutter and fled the scene in their car.

Investigation Underway

Speaking to NDTV, Assistant Commissioner of Police Raju said that investigators had traced the car’s movements using multiple CCTV cameras along its route.

“There were five people involved—one stayed in the car, one kept watch outside, and three entered the kiosk. They carried gas cutters and iron rods to break the ATM and take the cash,” said the officer.

Suspected Gang from Haryana

Police suspect that the criminals belong to a gang from Haryana. The same group allegedly attempted to loot another ATM in Mylardevpally but had to abandon their plan after suffering an electric shock while trying to disable alarm sensors.

Investigators believe the gang may also be responsible for similar ATM thefts in Bengaluru and Hosur (Tamil Nadu), where the same method was used.

Multiple police teams have been deployed to track down the robbers and recover the stolen money.
