A robbery attempt took place at a private bank in Sector-13, Manimajra, Chandigarh, but luckily the robbers failed in their plan. The incident happened late at night around 3 AM on Saturday. The robbers tried to break into the Axis Bank, which is located inside a showroom near the Manimajra Housing Board Light Point. They entered through the back side of the bank by breaking the lock of a small shutter and then breaking an inside wall of the showroom to reach the bank’s premises.

According to the branch manager, Rajendra, two robbers managed to get inside the bank. Their faces were covered with cloths to hide their identities. However, their movements were clearly recorded in the CCTV cameras installed in the bank. As soon as they entered, they damaged the alarm system and broke one of the security cameras. But even after this, another internal alarm went off, and the alert was immediately sent to the bank’s head office.

Thanks to the alarm system, both bank staff and police reached the bank quickly, which forced the robbers to flee without stealing anything. The lockers and all important items in the bank were found safe. Since the robbers couldn’t open the lockers and the alarm had gone off, they ran away within 15 minutes of entering.

The police at Mouli Jagran police station have registered a case of attempted robbery and started their investigation. They are reviewing CCTV footage from inside and around the bank to identify the robbers. Behind the bank, there is some empty land owned by the Municipal Corporation and a back road, which stays quiet at night. The robbers used this secluded back area to break the rear shutter and wall, trying to take advantage of the darkness and silence. However, due to the quick action by the bank’s security system and the police, their plan failed.
