Mumbai was on edge Tuesday after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and two major private banks, HDFC and ICICI, received threatening emails claiming planted bombs at 11 locations across the city. Mint, citing Mumbai Police sources, reported the sender accusing the RBI and banks of orchestrating “the biggest scam in Indian history.”

The emails demanded the resignation of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, alleging their involvement in the supposed scam. The sender threatened that explosives planted at locations like the RBI’s central building, HDFC House, and ICICI Bank Towers would detonate at 1:30 pm.
Despite the chilling claims, a thorough search by Mumbai Police at all 11 locations found no traces of explosives. Further investigation into the threatening emails is underway.
