The Reserve Bank of India has today released the data on External Commercial Borrowings (ECB), Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds (FCCB) and Rupee Denominated Bonds (RDB) through General Permission and Special Permission for the month of July 2026.

  • ECB – External Commercial Borrowings: Loans raised by Indian companies from foreign lenders. Companies may use ECBs for purposes such as business expansion, infrastructure, or other permitted activities.
  • FCCB – Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds: Bonds issued by an Indian company in a foreign currency. They pay interest like a bond, but under specified conditions, the bonds can be converted into the company’s shares.
  • RDB – Rupee Denominated Bonds: Bonds issued overseas but denominated in Indian rupees (₹). Since the bond is denominated in rupees, the foreign investor generally bears the currency-exchange risk.
