The CAIIB examination date of 7th December 2025 was declared well in advance by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF). Accordingly, while scheduling the Promotion Test, this date ought to have been duly considered to prevent such an overlap. It is noteworthy that a few peer banks have already rescheduled their promotion examinations to avoid this very conflict, keeping in view the legitimate academic and professional commitments of their officers.

The federation also said that the time gap between the last date of application and the scheduled date of the Promotion Test is only about 24 days, which is contrary to laid down norms and guidelines mandating a minimum gap of 30 days. This inadequate time frame has caused widespread concern and hardship among eligible officers who are earnestly preparing for both examinations.

The federation has requested that the Promotion Test date be rescheduled to mid-January 2026, allowing adequate preparation time and avoiding the clash with CAIIB. Further, in light of the severe cold conditions prevailing in Northern India during this period, it is also requested that the examination timing be fixed from 11:00 AM onwards to ensure convenience and fair participation of all candidates.
