Punjab National Bank Manager arrested Taking Bribe in Budaun Uttar Pradesh

Budaun, Uttar Pradesh: In a major development on Wednesday afternoon in Badaun, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two employees of the Sahaswan branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) for accepting a bribe of Rs 38,000. The two accused, Rajiv Gangwar, the branch manager and Dayaram alias Daya, were caught red-handed during a CBI operation.

How they were arrested?

The story began when Rajkumar, a resident of Kankasi, applied for a Rs 5 lakh loan under the Chief Minister’s Youth Entrepreneur Scheme. The loan file was sent from the Khadi Village Industries Department to the Sahaswan branch of PNB. Rajkumar, eager to secure the loan, contacted the bank on March 7 for follow-up. At this point, branch manager Rajiv Gangwar introduced him to Daya, who was instructed to stay in touch with Rajkumar.

From then on, Rajkumar visited the bank repeatedly in hopes of securing the loan. It was during these visits that Daya told him that he would need to pay a bribe of Rs 40,000 for the loan to be approved. Rajkumar, who could not afford the amount, discussed the issue with his brother, Devvrat. Devvrat then reached out to the CBI for help.

Following instructions from the CBI, Rajkumar remained in contact with both Daya and Rajiv. Eventually, they negotiated the bribe down to Rs 38,000. On Wednesday, the CBI team arrived in Sahaswan and caught both the bank employees while they were accepting the bribe. Rajkumar had deposited the bribe amount into his own account to avoid direct involvement in the transaction. Daya then instructed Rajkumar to withdraw the money using a cheque, which he did. At this moment, the CBI team arrested both Daya and Rajiv while they were handling the cheque.
