Punjab Government Declares Holiday on 26 May, Banks will be Closed
The Punjab Government has declared a general holiday on May 26, 2026 (Tuesday) due to the General Elections of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Nagar Panchayats in the state.
The notification was issued by the Personnel Department of the Punjab Government on May 24, 2026.

According to the order, all government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions under the Punjab Government in Chandigarh will remain closed on the day of polling.
The government has also declared the holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, which means banks and other notified institutions are also expected to remain closed.
The notification was issued with the approval of the Chief Secretary of Punjab.
