Over Rs.17 Lac Stolen from Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank

Theft has been reported at the Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank branch located in Telpa, Karpi town under Vansi police station area of Bihar on Saturday. Around 1:27 pm, thieves fled with a bag containing ₹17,66,840 from the bank.

Bank cashier Shashank Shivam said that the bank’s link had failed, so he had gone to talk to the IT cell. The cash cabin was only secured with a latch. During this time, the thieves took away the bag full of cash from the cabin.

Branch Manager Rambali Prasad informed that three suspicious youths had come to the bank around 12:45 pm. They were keeping an eye on the cash counter, and as soon as the cashier stepped out of the cabin, the thieves executed the crime. At the time of the incident, the branch manager was away at the Arwal district headquarters.

The CCTV footage showed three suspects. The theft was noticed when the cashier returned to the cabin about 15 minutes later. At that time, a mechanic was also present in the bank for the repair of the cash counting machine.

On receiving the information, Station House Officer Dheeraj Kumar and Sub-Inspector Rohit Kumar Singh reached the spot with police personnel. The police are now trying to trace the thieves based on CCTV footage.
