Ananya Das was born on May 15, 1992, in Odisha, India. She grew up in a family that valued hard work and discipline. Her father, a former employee of the Bank of India, significantly influenced her upbringing, instilling in her the importance of dedication and perseverance.

From a young age, Ananya stood out as an exceptional student. She pursued her Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Science at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. Her thirst for knowledge didn’t stop there; she continued her education by earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Economics from BITS Pilani, further enhancing her academic credentials.

Career Transition

After completing her studies, Ananya began her professional journey as a software engineer for a multinational company. She even had a brief internship at the Reserve Bank of India in Jaipur. Despite having a bright career ahead in the corporate sector, Ananya felt a calling to serve her country as a civil servant. This realization led her to make a bold decision to leave her job and fully commit to preparing for the UPSC exam.

Achieving Her Dream

Ananya’s determination and focus paid off when she attempted the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2015. Remarkably, she cleared the exam on her first try, achieving an All India Rank (AIR) of 16. This outstanding performance made her the state topper from Odisha, setting a shining example for many aspiring civil servants. Following her success, Ananya joined the Gujarat cadre and took on various significant roles, including serving as the commissioner of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation.

Current Role and Personal Life

Recently, Ananya Das was transferred to Bargarh, where she now holds the position of joint secretary in the department of handlooms, textiles, and handicrafts. Her professional journey has also attracted media attention, particularly after her recent marriage to fellow IAS officer Chanchal Ran. Ananya was previously married to IAS officer Abdaal Akhtar but later divorced.
