Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis’s wife Amruta Fadnavis resigns from Axis Bank

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s wife, Amruta Fadnavis, has quit her banking job after 23 years. She was working as Senior Vice President at Axis Bank and has stepped down from her post. Amruta Fadnavis informed about this in her social media post.

She joined the bank as a Management Trainee and rose to the rank of Senior Vice-President in 23 years. In 2014, when Devendra Fadnavis became Maharashtra CM, Amruta refused to leave her job when she was Associate Vice-President of Axis Bank and was heading its premium branch in Nagpur.

“I won’t leave my job. I have worked hard to get here…I believe every woman should try to be financially independent. I will always keep working because I too want to grow intellectually. It is a strong point of my identity,” Amruta had said.

Amruta Fadnavis is a trained classical singer, a social activist and a banker. She is married to the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis. She also became the youngest first lady in the history of Maharashtra in 2014. She represented India at National Prayer Breakfast (2017), an International peace initiative presided over by the then US President Donald Trump. 

Amruta Fadnavis was born as Amruta Ranade on 9th April,1979 in Nagpur, Maharashtra to Dr. Sharad Ranade, an Opthalmologist and Dr. Charulata Ranade, a Gynaecologist. She initially studied at St. Joseph Convent School, Nagpur. She graduated from G.S. College of Commerce and Economics.
