LIC Settles Life Insurance Claim in 24 Hours for Pahalgam Terror Attack Victim

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has shown a compassionate and swift response by quickly settling the life insurance claim of Somisetty Madhusudhan, who tragically lost his life in the recent terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. LIC Steps In With Quick Support

Soon after Madhusudhan’s body was brought back to his hometown, Kavali in SPSR Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, LIC officials from the local branch got in touch with his family. They took immediate action to begin the process of settling his life insurance claim. Madhusudhan had taken this policy from the LIC branch in Kavali.

According to officials, LIC collected the necessary documents from the grieving family, including the original insurance bond and supporting documents such as the FIR and police reports related to the terrorist attack.

Claim Settled Within 24 Hours

LIC acted with urgency and empathy. As per instructions from the head office, the claim was processed and settled within a single day. The nominee’s bank account was credited with the claim amount on Thursday, April 24, 2025 — just hours after the final rites of Madhusudhan were completed.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Balaji Babu, the Branch Manager of LIC Kavali, said, “We followed directions from our head office and made sure the claim was settled immediately. Our team will also visit the family personally to offer our condolences.”

Final Rites and Mourning

Madhusudhan’s mortal remains were flown from Kashmir and reached his hometown through Chennai. His funeral was held in Kavali on the afternoon of Thursday, April 24, 2025, in the presence of family and friends mourning his sudden loss.

This heartfelt gesture by LIC shows how insurance companies can make a real difference during difficult times by acting with speed and compassion. It also reflects the efficiency of LIC’s claim settlement process, especially during emergencies.
