In light of the ongoing water crisis, the Karnataka government has taken measures to address the situation. A recent study has revealed that all taluks in the Bengaluru district are now considered drought-prone. In response to this, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced in an emergency meeting that the government will prioritize irrigation and water management projects over other works.
Bengaluru and its neighboring districts heavily rely on water tankers, and approximately 3,500 tankers are currently operating in the city. To prevent tanker owners from charging exorbitant prices during this challenging time, the Karnataka government has set fixed rates for water tankers. According to the Bengaluru district administration, a 6,000-liter water tanker will be priced at Rs. 600 for distances up to 5km, an 8,000-liter tanker at Rs. 700, and a 12,000-liter tanker at Rs. 1,000.
For distances between 5km and 10km, the prices will increase to Rs. 750 for a 6,000-liter tanker, Rs. 850 for an 8,000-liter tanker, and Rs. 1,200 for a 12,000-liter tanker. This measure is aimed at ensuring fair pricing for customers during these challenging times.
Why should we the people pay for mistakes committed by the Government. Inspite of knowing that water in the KRS is very low and will not be able to sustain during summer the crooks went ahead and released water to TN to please Stalin their alliance partner
77 years of Independence, 24*7 water and electricity is a far away dream even now!
Unfortunately deliberately ignorant people fall for so called free bees and select extremely inefficient lot as leaders to govern us! And in turn these so called leaders have the audacity to impose fine on the common people conveniently putting the blame on Nature for their irresponsible attitude and pathetic failure in providing essential services! Really a sad state!
Really good measure, long due however imposing the fines and collecting it by whom and the loopholes will create good opportunities to corruption…
Absolutely waste of brains to blame previous governments. What matters is, that what steps have been taken by the present government to tackle this water issue?
The sitting representative of people’s have no water issue for. their residences.
So in the end result, the common people are used just as when the British ruled us.
But now Indians rule us as they wish.
We will never change. For ever. As we still follow the sheep syndrome.
