Senior IPS Officer Anand Mishra resigns, He wrote in his letter that he wants to pursue life of freedom

Renowned Assam police officer, popularly known for his Singham-style approach, Anand Mishra, currently serving as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Lakhimpur, has officially resigned from the Indian Police Service (IPS) effective January 16, 2024.

A member of the Assam-Meghalaya Cadre from the 2011 RR Batch, Mishra submitted his resignation to Assam Chief Secretary Pawan Borthakur on December 18. In his resignation letter, SP Mishra expressed his decision to step down from his position to pursue personal and societal aspirations.

“This is to submit my unconditional resignation with effect from January 16, 2024 from the IPS to pursue a life of freedom and independence that I want to realize through various social services and other means that are beyond the mandate of IPS,” Mishra’s resignation letter read.

His resignation letter stated, “This is to submit my unconditional resignation with effect from January 16, 2024, from the IPS to pursue a life of freedom and independence that I want to realize through various social services and other means that are beyond the mandate of IPS.”

Anand Mishra gained acclaim for his relentless efforts in combating Assam’s challenges, including the war on drugs, cattle smuggling, robbery, and other crimes. Notably, Mishra and SP Randeep Baruah were entrusted with leading Special Investigation Teams (SITs) for incidents in Manipur.

Prior to his role as SP in Lakhimpur, Mishra served as the SP of Nagaon, where a shooting incident during an anti-drug operation stirred controversy. Before Nagaon, he held the position of SP in Dhubri, earning popularity among the local populace.
