In a groundbreaking move, ICICI Bank, a leading private sector lender, has seamlessly integrated its RuPay credit cards with UPI, enabling users to make effortless payments starting December 1, 2023. This integration empowers users to link their RuPay credit cards to their preferred UPI app, such as Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, or any bank UPI platform, and conduct Person-to-Merchant (P2M) transactions with ease.
ICICI Bank’s collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has paved the way for UPI transactions on RuPay Credit Cards, marking a significant milestone in the realm of digital payments. Users can now make P2M category payments, including online shopping, utility bill payments, and offline payments at point-of-sale machines, all through their RuPay Credit Cards linked to UPI.
“Customers can link their ICICI Bank Coral RuPay Credit Card, ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver RuPay Credit Card, and ICICI Bank Rubyx RuPay Credit Card to UPI,” the bank stated in a press release. “They can scan the merchant QR code and make the payment from their RuPay Credit Cards using any UPI payment app, including iMobile Pay.”
This integration of RuPay Credit Cards with UPI offers enhanced financial flexibility to customers, providing them with interest-free credit for up to 50 days, as per Bijith Bhaskar, Head – Cards, ICICI Bank.
