In a shocking incident in Bettiah, Bihar two armed miscreants on a bike shot a rural bank manager and fled with his bike and bag. The incident took place near Lakhnauta village in the Matiyaria police station area, leaving the community in fear and concern.
The victim, Pankaj Kumar, is the branch manager at Gramin Bank’s Belsandi branch. On Saturday evening, after finishing his work at the bank, Pankaj was returning home on his bike. As he reached a deserted area near Lakhnauta village, two men on a bike suddenly stopped him. Sensing danger, Pankaj tried to flee, but before he could escape, the armed assailants shot him in his left hand. The criminals then looted Pankaj’s bike and bag. After committing the crime, they waved their weapons to threaten anyone nearby and sped off from the scene, leaving the injured Pankaj in pain.
As soon as locals heard the gunshot and saw the situation, they rushed to help Pankaj. The police were informed immediately, and with the help of the local villagers, the injured bank manager was taken to the nearest health facility, the Primary Health Center in Gaunaha.
Upon arrival at the Primary Health Center, the doctors on duty provided first aid. However, seeing the severity of Pankaj’s condition, they decided to transfer him to the Government Medical College Hospital for more advanced treatment. According to reports, his condition remains critical, but he is receiving the necessary medical attention.
The police have launched a full investigation into the incident. Narkatiaganj Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jaiprakash Singh confirmed that law enforcement officers quickly reached the crime scene. They are collecting information from Pankaj, who is able to share some details despite his injuries. The police are confident that they will soon be able to arrest the criminals involved.
