Gold Chain Snatched from Female Bank Officer in Meerut

A woman bank officer from Ghaziabad was robbed of her gold chain near Sabzi Mandi in the Brahmapuri area of Meerut on Thursday evening. The incident took place when Swati Shah, an assistant manager at IDBI Bank in TP Nagar, was waiting for a vehicle to return home after work.

Swati Shah, a resident of Govindpuram in Ghaziabad’s Kavinagar police station area, was standing near the vegetable market when a man approached her on foot. Before she could react, he snatched the gold chain from her neck and ran towards his accomplice, who was waiting on a bike nearby. The two miscreants quickly fled the scene.

Hearing Swati’s cries for help, people in the area tried to chase the thieves, but they had already escaped.

Following the incident, local police launched an investigation. SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated that CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the criminals. He assured that the accused will be arrested soon.

The robbery has raised concerns about the safety of commuters in the area, especially women traveling alone in the evening hours.
