Kanpur: A video showing a heated argument between a bank employee and a customer at an HDFC Bank branch in Kanpur has gone viral on social media, triggering public debate.
The incident reportedly took place at the Panki Sector-2 branch of HDFC Bank. In the video, a woman bank employee is seen arguing with a customer.
The customer was recording the incident on his/her mobile phone. In the video, the female employee seems highly frustrated and alleges the husband of a customer of misbehaving with her. The female employee said – Why don’t you ask your husband to behave?
The video has drawn strong criticism online. Many users have called the remark unprofessional and inappropriate for a public service workplace. However, some people have defended the employee, claiming that the video may have been selectively edited.
According to them, the customer and her husband may have provoked the employee, and the full context of the incident is not visible in the clip. So far, HDFC Bank has not released any official statement on the matter.
No formal complaint has been reported yet. The incident has once again highlighted issues related to workplace stress, customer-staff conflicts, and the need for sensitivity in public interactions.
