A fixed deposit (FD) of 20 lakhs, along with jewellery, has disappeared from the locker of Union Bank. A case of fraud has been registered against a bank employee and another individual.

In Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, a shocking fraud case has come to light. The FD worth 20 lakhs belonging to a retired SECL employee has vanished from the locker of the Union Bank of India Budhar branch. The customer has also alleged that the jewellery kept in the locker has also disappeared and has lodged a complaint at the police station.

Following the customer’s complaint, Budhar police have registered a case under sections 409 and 420 against the involved bank employee and the other individual who committed the FD fraud. The police have begun investigating the matter. This incident of jewellery and FD disappearance from Budhar Union Bank’s locker surfaced recently on Monday, coinciding with another similar case, raising serious questions about the bank’s credibility.

Kamaldas Panika, a retired employee from Kalari residing in the Amalai police station area, is a customer of the Union Bank of India Budhar branch. He had taken a locker in his daughter’s name, where he kept important documents, jewellery, and two FDs of 10 lakhs each. The interest from these FDs was credited to his account monthly. When Kamaldas stopped receiving messages on his mobile for several months, he grew suspicious. Upon checking his account at the bank, he discovered that his 20 lakh FD was missing. Kamaldas alleges that Prakash Rawat, claiming to be a bank employee, misappropriated his FD of Rs.20 lakhs in collusion with bank officials. Additionally, Kamaldas suspects the jewellery in the locker is also missing and has lodged a complaint with the police.

Based on Kamaldas’ complaint, Budhar police have registered a case under sections 409 and 420 against the bank employee involved in the FD fraud, including Prakash Rawat, and have commenced an investigation. Previously, there was a complaint of jewellery disappearance from the locker. Similar incidents have occurred before at Union Bank, including a case where 20 lakhs worth of jewellery vanished from the locker of Budhar customer and businessman Ballu Vishnani, and another case where money disappeared from the account of a customer named Babulal Chaudhary. The bank management has declined to comment on these matters to the media.

A complaint regarding the disappearance of money from an FD belonging to a Union Bank customer was filed. In response, a case has been registered against the involved bank employee, including Prakash Rawat, and an investigation is underway.
