Fake Currency Notes Found in PNB Mainpuri, RBI files police case against Manager

Mainpuri: In a recent incident, six counterfeit notes of two thousand rupees each were discovered in the currency chest of the Punjab National Bank branch in the city. The discovery was made when these fake notes reached the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). As a result, the Claim Section Manager of the RBI has taken action, registering a case against the manager of Punjab National Bank at the local police station. Earlier fake notes were found in SBI Agra and Fatehpur.

Details of the Incident

These counterfeit notes were sent from the Punjab National Bank branch in Mainpuri to the RBI in December 2023. It was during the verification process that the RBI identified the six fake notes, amounting to a total of twelve thousand rupees. The RBI has taken this matter seriously and is actively investigating the incident.

Legal Actions Taken

To address the issue, the RBI has registered a case against the manager of the Punjab Bank at the Sadar Kotwali police station. Additionally, the six counterfeit notes, each valued at two thousand rupees, have been handed over to the police for further investigation. The Kotwali police have initiated an inquiry into the matter following the registration of the case against the bank manager.

  1. How RBI can do that. Does any manager keep track of every note in the Chest..Or there is only one lifetime manager to a chest.? People keep on changing due to transfers..
    As usual once again RBI proved their officials are dumb fellows not knowing practical banking.
