ATM Card Swap Scam is becoming very common across India. Recently, a scam has been reported in Ajmer, Rajasthan. An elderly man lost Rs 70,000 after two young men cleverly swapped his ATM card at an ATM booth. The incident took place near Christianganj, and the Christianganj Police Station has registered a case and started an investigation.

According to the police, the victim, Bhanwar Lal Bairwa, a resident of Kairiyon Ki Dhani, went to an SBI ATM near a busy intersection close to the Christianganj police station in the evening. He was trying to withdraw money but the ATM machine was not dispensing cash, despite several attempts.

While he was still trying, two young men entered the booth and offered to help him. Pretending to assist, they took his ATM card, acted as if they were trying to make the withdrawal, and then handed a card back to him. Unfortunately, he did not realize that they had swapped his card with another one.

After the men left, Bhanwar Lal discovered later that Rs 70,000 had been withdrawn from his account. When he checked the card that was returned to him, he realized that it was not his original card. The fraud had already taken place by then.

Following the complaint, the Christianganj Police registered a case of ATM fraud and theft. The police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the ATM booth and nearby areas to identify the accused.

This incident serves as a strong reminder for the public, especially senior citizens, to be extremely careful while using ATM machines. Never accept help from strangers inside ATM booths, and always double-check your card after using the machine. If you ever face any problem with ATM, you should directly contact bank via its official toll free number.
