DFS Rebuked SBI Chairman for not being able to stop impact of Strike
A social media post by AIPNBOF GS Shri Krishna Kumar has claimed that the Department of Financial Services (DFS) has formed a crisis management committee to deal with the upcoming bank strike. According to the post, the committee is meeting every day to discuss the possible impact of the strike.
United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced 3-day strike from 28 to 30 September 2026, demanding implementation of 5-day Banking and withdrawal of the new PLI scheme. Earlier, a strike was conducted on 11 September 2026.
The post claims that during one such meeting, the DFS Secretary asked the head of a major bank about the expected participation of employees in the strike. According to the claim, the head of bank estimated that around 80 to 85 percent of employees could participate in the strike.
The DFS Secretary reacted strongly to this estimate and said that around 70 percent of bank branches would have to remain open, while employee participation in the strike should not exceed 50 percent.

In a follow-up post, Krishna Kumar claimed that the bank chairman who was rebuked during the meeting was the SBI Chairman. The posts also alleged that the DFS was underestimating the level of dissatisfaction among bank employees.
These statements are based on the claims made in the social media posts and have not been independently verified.
