New Delhi, June 11, 2025 — A Special CBI Court at Rouse Avenue District Court (RADC), New Delhi, has convicted Anurag Sharma, a resident of Delhi, in a serious case involving Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The court has found him guilty under Section 67B of the Information Technology Act, 2000, which deals with publishing, browsing, or possessing child sexual content online.
The case was originally registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on October 27, 2016, following a written complaint. The complaint indicated that the accused had accessed and downloaded CSAM.
During the investigation, the CBI found that Anurag Sharma had stored several video files containing CSAM on his personal laptop. All the digital evidence and case materials were carefully examined by the court. After reviewing the records and evidence, the court declared him guilty on June 11, 2025.
The case has now moved to the next stage, where the court will hear arguments to decide the punishment. The date for this hearing will be announced soon.
The CBI has reiterated its strong commitment to fight online child exploitation and protect children from such harmful and illegal activities. The agency said it will continue to give top priority to such cases and ensure strict action is taken against those who misuse the digital world to harm children.
