In a shocking incident, five armed robbers carried out a daring robbery at the Odisha Grameen Bank in Joda, Keonjhar, during broad daylight. The robbers, armed with guns, entered the bank during working hours, creating panic among the staff and customers.

They threatened the bank employees and forced them to hand over approximately ₹10 lakh in cash along with a large quantity of gold jewellery. The entire incident happened very quickly, leaving everyone in a state of fear and confusion. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic and terrifying, with some saying they were too scared to react.
A local shopkeeper expressed deep concern, saying it was frightening to witness such an incident in a small town during the day. The robbery has sparked fear among residents and raised serious questions about security measures in rural banks, which often lack advanced safety systems. Following the incident, the Joda Police have launched a detailed investigation.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage, collecting eyewitness accounts, and looking for any clues that could help track down the robbers. Joda Police Station in-charge Ravi Das assured the public that the police are actively working on the case and doing everything possible to catch the culprits. This incident has highlighted the urgent need to strengthen security in rural financial institutions to prevent such crimes in the future.
