CBI Court Sentences IOCL Female Manager to 3 Years Jail

The CBI Court in Ahmedabad, on 30 September 2025, convicted and sentenced Smt. Saji Sajeev, former Assistant Manager (Finance) at IOCL, Rajkot, to three years of rigorous imprisonment. She was also fined ₹90,000 for financial misappropriation.
The CBI registered the case on 21 November 2011, based on a complaint from the CVO of IOCL, New Delhi. The complaint alleged that financial misappropriation of ₹18.90 lakh occurred between 2005 and 2008 by officials of IOCL, Rajkot. The Vigilance Department of IOCL investigated and found the active involvement of Smt. Saji Sajeev and Shri Sandeep Harendrabhai Jani, then AO-II, IOCL, Rajkot.
The investigation revealed that the Finance Department at IOCL RDO, Rajkot, maintained a G.L. Cash Imprest account for making petty cash payments. Smt. Saji Sajeev was the sole in-charge of this account as Accounts Officer (Finance). During 2003 to 2008, she fraudulently withdrew cash from this account while working as Assistant Manager (Finance) at IOCL, Rajkot.
After completing the investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet on 30 September 2013. The charges included criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust by a public servant, forgery of valuable documents, using forged documents to cheat, and criminal misconduct.
After the trial, the Hon’ble Court convicted and sentenced Smt. Saji Sajeev accordingly.
