CBI Arrests Central Bank of India Officer for Accepting Rs.15,000 Bribe in Deoria Uttar Pradesh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an officer of Central Bank of India, Bangra Bazar Branch, in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from a complainant. The arrest was made after a trap was laid by CBI officials, who caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Bribe Demanded for MUDRA Loan Withdrawal
According to the CBI, a case was registered on May 9, 2025, following a complaint alleging that the officer had demanded an illegal gratification of ₹20,000 to allow the withdrawal of funds from a sanctioned MUDRA loan of ₹5 lakh. The loan was issued in the name of the complainant’s brother for his business firm. During the trap operation, the accused officer was caught accepting ₹15,000 as part of the bribe amount.
Legal Action and Ongoing Probe
The arrested officer will be presented before the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, CBI Court No. 4, Lucknow. The investigation is currently ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses. This arrest is part of CBI’s ongoing efforts to crack down on corruption in public sector banks and ensure accountability among government officials.
