According to reports, bank manager Sunil Kumar and his team had gone to recover loan dues on a Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loan taken in the name of Mohar Singh. He had an outstanding loan of ₹9.5 lakh, and the interest had not been paid for three years. The bank had asked him to deposit at least ₹3 lakh, but the payment was not made.

When the bank team reached the village on Wednesday afternoon, Mohar Singh fled on seeing them. His nephews and relatives, however, confronted the officials. They accused the bank of harassing poor farmers. Soon, a group of people led by Kalicharan, Lakhan Singh, and Awadhesh, along with several unidentified villagers, became violent. The mob beat the bank officials, dragged them, and snatched ₹5,000 in cash from the bank manager. His mobile phone was also broken.

The attackers allegedly held the officials hostage for some time. Sunil Kumar managed to inform his acquaintances, after which colleagues and friends reached the spot and freed the trapped team. The team included recovery agent Dinesh Kumar, AEO Kamal Pant, assistant manager Sudhir Kumar, branch guard Kuldeep Kumar, and home guard Dayaveer.

Following the incident, the victims went to the police station and filed a complaint against Mohar Singh’s family members and others. A video of the assault has also surfaced and is going viral on social media.

There was also an argument between bank staff and police officials regarding the registration of the FIR. Later, Sikandarpur Vaishya Police Station in-charge Chanchal Sirohi confirmed that a written complaint had been received. He said that the injured had been medically examined and that further action would be taken after the investigation.
