In Basti, the police have arrested two wanted criminals who looted bank employees after taking them hostage after an encounter.

The first criminal is Gautam Singh, who is a resident of Chapiya police station area of Gonda. There was a reward of Rs 25 thousand on him. He was caught during an encounter in Hyderabad village of Parasrampur. The second criminal is Anuj Pratap Singh alias Murari Singh. He is a resident of Cantonment police station area of Basti. He was caught during an encounter in Sarwarpur village of Dubaulia area. Both of them were shot in the leg in the encounter.

Police have recovered pistol, cartridges, two vehicles and Rs 10,500 cash from both the criminals. Both have several criminal cases registered against them. Police are searching for other absconding criminals.

A serious case of robbery has been reported in Parshurampur, Basti, where two employees of Baroda UP Bank were targeted by a group of miscreants. The incident took place on Saturday evening around 5 PM, when branch manager Ravi Tiwari and field officer Rashik Bharti were traveling on the Parsa-Parshurampur road.

This is a serious case of crime against Bank employees. Cases of crime against Bank Employees are increasing day by day.

The miscreants overtook the bank employees’ car and forced them to stop. They then took both the employees to the shed of a cremation ground, where they were held hostage. There were about four to five attackers, and they tortured the employees throughout the night.

The criminals forced the bank employees to ask their colleagues to send money through UPI. In one case, they demanded ₹1.70 lakh from an individual. Along with this, the miscreants also snatched rings, chains, and cash from the two victims before letting them go.

The ordeal ended on Sunday afternoon around 1:30 PM, when the miscreants finally released both the employees. Following their release, the victims immediately went to the local police station to report the incident.

After the incident, senior bank manager GM Mishra expressed strong concern and warned that bank employees would stop work and start a protest from Monday, if the police did not take quick and proper action.

Ravi Tiwari, who lives in Ayodhya, shared that the miscreants first took them near a high boundary wall, and later kept them in a remote and isolated area. According to Circle Officer (CO) Sanjay Kumar Singh, an investigation into the case is currently ongoing, and necessary action will be taken.

Bank Employees Response

All India Regional Rural Bank Officers’ Federation has written a letter to Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji) and demanded proper investigation in case. The copy of letter is given below.

विषय: जनपद बस्ती में बैंक अधिकारियों के अपहरण और जानलेवा हमले के संबंध में तुरन्त कार्रवाई हेतु।

महोदय,

हम आपका ध्यान उत्तर प्रदेश ग्रामीण बैंक, शाखा जैतीपुर, जनपद बस्ती में हुई एक गंभीर घटना की ओर आकर्षित करना चाहते हैं, जिसमें दिनांक 21-06-2025 को देर शाम जैतीपुर शाखा के बंधक श्री रवि तिवारी और सहायक बंधक श्री राशिक भारती, जब शाखा का कार्य संपन्न कर घर वापसी कर रहे थे, को कुछ अज्ञात व्यक्तियों द्वारा अपहरण कर लिया गया और उपरोक्त दोनों कर्मचारियों को पूरी रात बंधक बनाकर यातनाएं दी गईं। यह घटना अत्यंत निंदनीय, भयभीत करने वाली और चिंताजनक है क्योंकि अपराधी उन्हें अगले दिन छोड़कर फरार हो गए।

इस घटना के बाद, बैंक कर्मचारियों में भय और असुरक्षा का वातावरण व्याप्त हो गया है। अपराधियों ने न केवल कर्मचारियों को बंधक बनाया बल्कि उनके साथ मारपीट भी की, जिससे उन्हें गंभीर चोट आई है। ऐसी अमानवीय घटनाएं कर्मचारियों के मनोबल को प्रभावित करती हैं और उनके दायित्वों के निर्वहन में बाधा डालती हैं।

हम आपसे विनम्र अनुरोध करते हैं कि आप इस मामले में तत्काल हस्तक्षेप कर दोषियों के विरुद्ध कड़ी से कड़ी कार्रवाई करने के संबंध में संबंधित अधिकारियों को निर्देशित करने का कष्ट करें। यदि इस प्रकार की आपराधिक गतिविधियों पर अंकुश नहीं लगाया जाता है तो इससे कर्मचारियों में असुरक्षा बढ़ेगी और वे बैंक में पूर्ण मनोयोग से अपना शत प्रतिशत योगदान नहीं दे सकेंगे। हमारा मानना है कि ऐसी घटनाओं की पुनरावृत्ति को रोकने के लिए सख्त और निर्णायक कार्रवाई आवश्यक है, जिससे देश की जनता को निर्बाध बैंकिंग सेवाएं मिलती रहें।

आशा ही नहीं अपितु पूर्ण विश्वास है कि आपके राज्य में जीरो टोलरेंस नीति का शत-प्रतिशत अनुपालन अवश्य किया जाएगा।
