Bank Unions announce strike due to increasing attacks on Bank Employees in Maharashtra
The Maharashtra State Bank Employees Federation has announced a one-day strike in the first week of October across Maharashtra. The strike is in response to the rising incidents of attacks on bank employees in the state. As Maharashtra approaches general elections, local politicians and goons have been pressuring bank employees to approve more loans. Employees who refuse to comply with these demands face physical assault.
In the Dharashiv district, the local administration has even ordered FIRs against branch managers for not disbursing more crop loans. While it is the responsibility of bank management to address unmet targets, the filing of FIRs by local authorities indicates clear political motives. Numerous incidents of physical assault on branch managers have been reported across Maharashtra in recent weeks.
Such incidents are highly demotivating for Bank Employees who are constantly working for the growth of the Indian Economy. The incidents of physical assault are as follows: Click here to join our whatsapp channel to receive updates.
