A Bank of India PO Supriyo Majumdar, working in Bank of India, Ramgarh Cantt branch, committed suicide by hanging himself on Sunday at his residence in Anantapur under Chutiya police station area of Ranchi.

He has left a suicide note of five pages. In this, he has blamed Ramgarh Police, the then Senior Manager (Credit) BK Singh, Chief Manager and Branch Head Prafulla Kumar Behera for his death. Here, on receiving the information, the Chutia police reached his Anantapur (Fourth Street) residence and sent the body to RIMS for postmortem.

In the suicide note, Supriyo has written that in the year 2018, some officials of the bank cheated in giving tanker loan in Ramgarh. I collected many proofs related to that fraud.

The CBI started the investigation of that fraud loan case and I was also questioned. After seeing all the evidence, the CBI gave me (Supriyo) a clean chit.

After this I became a witness of CBI. Even after that, the Ramgarh Police, the then Senior Manager BK Singh, Chief Manager and Branch Head Prafulla Kumar Behera registered a second FIR together and started a parallel investigation.

He cited being consistently threatened by Investigation Officer A Samad and the Deputy Superintendent of Police. Despite receiving a notice from the police and facing a case, Majumdar’s mental state deteriorated when he was informed by the IO that a senior bank officer wanted him jailed during his recent visit to Ramgarh.

Overwhelmed by the ongoing legal battles and the alleged police mistreatment, Majumdar tragically ended his life. He had joined the Bank of India in 2015 as a Probationary Officer and had been married for only a few years.
