Russell’s vipers are responsible for many serious snakebite cases in parts of Asia, including India. Their bites can cause severe health complications and may even prove fatal if the victim does not receive timely medical treatment. Immediate medical attention is essential in the event of a suspected bite.

Experts advise people not to attempt to catch or handle venomous snakes themselves, as doing so can put their lives at risk. Instead, they should contact the Forest Department or a trained snake rescuer to ensure the animal is handled and relocated safely.

Advise for Bank Employees

Bank staff working in rural branches should remain alert and take necessary precautions against snakes and other potentially dangerous animals, especially during the rainy season and in areas surrounded by fields, bushes or open land. Employees should carefully check the surroundings, particularly near parking areas, staircases, store rooms, toilets and other dark or secluded places.

Avoid walking through tall grass or bushes and always use a torch when moving around in poorly lit areas. Do not attempt to catch, disturb or kill a snake if spotted near the branch; instead, keep a safe distance and inform trained snake rescuers or the local forest department.

Staff should also ensure that doors and windows are properly closed where possible and avoid leaving footwear or other items in places where snakes could hide. Safety should always be the priority, and all bank employees are advised to remain vigilant and take precautions to protect themselves and their colleagues.
