Bank of Baroda PO commits suicide due to extreme work pressure, Suicide Letter goes Viral

A Probationary Officer (PO) of Bank of Baroda has allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a train. The deceased officer, who was working as a Direct Recruitment Officer (DRO) at Bank of Baroda, reportedly left a suicide note in which he made serious allegations against the bank’s management.

The officer alleged that work-related stress at Bank of Baroda was extremely high. He further claimed that he was unable to resign from his job due to the bank’s ₹5 lakh bond policy. Under the policy, an officer is required to pay ₹5 lakh if he leaves the job within a specified period. He alleged that the bond policy forced him to continue working despite the intense work pressure and dissatisfaction with the job.

Last year, Shri Iswar Chand Jha, Senior Manager at Bank of Baroda, Ranchi, ended his life during the night of 19th–20th September 2025. He was going home daily after 9 p.m. because of overstaying in the branch to meet out the work pressure. This spoiled his work life balance and disrupted his family life.
