Bank of Baroda Officer commits suicide due to harassment from Wife

In a deeply tragic incident from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, a young bank assistant manager named Ankit Goyal allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison. His body was discovered in a hotel room, and initial investigations by the police suggest that he took this extreme step due to ongoing personal distress related to his marriage.
Ankit’s family has accused his wife, Megha Dubey, of mentally harassing him and encouraging him to commit suicide. According to his mother, the couple had a love marriage in 2017 after meeting while working together at the Bank of Baroda branch in Bareilly. At first, things appeared to be normal, but problems began to arise after 2020.
Ankit’s mother, Anita Goyal, alleges that Megha started creating tensions in the marriage and even falsely accused Ankit of dowry harassment. The family also claims that Megha was having extra marital affair with another man from Mainpuri. This could be the main reason for her repeated demands for divorce. They further allege that Megha was pressuring Ankit to pay ₹20 lakh as a condition for agreeing to the divorce, which had deeply troubled him.
On August 1, Ankit had come home on leave. That evening, Megha allegedly called and demanded that the entire family come to Bareilly, stating she wanted a divorce along with ₹20 lakh. Ankit, according to his mother, tried to calm her down and convince her to work things out. However, he became more distressed after the call.
Later that night, Ankit left home, saying he had some work. When his calls went unanswered, the family assumed he had traveled to Bareilly. But the next morning, police informed them that Ankit had been found dead in a hotel room, having consumed sulphas (a toxic substance). His mother broke down upon receiving the news, and the family blames Megha for pushing him to the brink.
The police confirmed that the last phone call on Ankit’s mobile was from Megha, which could be an important lead in the investigation. The family also claims that Megha had previously attacked Ankit and his mother with a knife and had been living separately from Ankit for over a year.
The matter is now under investigation. The police have taken the body for postmortem and are expected to look into the family’s complaints seriously.
Since last two decades after passing Act of Marriage by Hon’ble Court that if male and female both have attained the age of majority, they both can get marry with each other and no can force them to got married as per choice of parents, and this protection of law has given free hand to youths and convert the position of parents miserable. Still youths can improve their mindset that they marry with their choice but at least involvement of parents is must because until and unless you do not know the back ground of families, this type of incidents can’t be stopped to ruin the life of both make-female

Such harsh step to suicide is condemned, especially when love marriage fails on free hand misused by either side of couple. The only way to make law for stringent punishment on such death cases mounted with demanding dowry, extra marital affairs or heinous harrasment.
Girls are misusing law for everything and boys are forced to pay compensation even by courts. The mere fault of marrying is draining away the boys’ future due to threat of misuse of law . Courts need to look into this aspect appropriately.
