Lucknow: A bank employee posted at the Mohibullapur branch of Bank of Baroda died under mysterious circumstances in Madiyanv area of Lucknow. His family members have alleged murder.
The deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar Kanojia (37), a resident of Indiranagar, Lucknow. For the last two days, he had been staying at his in-laws’ house in Keshav Nagar, Madiyanv. On Saturday morning, when his wife Vineeta tried to wake him up, she found him unresponsive. She immediately informed her brother Amit, and together they rushed him to Lohia Hospital. Doctors there declared him dead.
According to Vineeta, Arun was addicted to alcohol and used to drink daily. On Friday night, he again consumed alcohol before going to bed. At around 4 a.m., he woke up briefly, asked for water and an apple, and allegedly consumed more alcohol before going back to sleep. Vineeta said that due to his drinking habits, he would often wake up late in morning.
She got married on 7 June 2023 and since then Arun’s alcohol addiction had been a constant issue. Whenever he was drunk, he would allegedly become violent and assault her. Vineeta further stated that during her pregnancy, Arun had even tried to strangle her, after which her brother Amit had to call the police and take her back to her maternal home. Vineeta is currently seven months pregnant.
Meanwhile, Arun’s sister Mridula has raised serious allegations. She said that her brother was murdered. According to her, the body had turned blue, and his tongue was protruding—signs she believes indicate foul play. She alleged that the in-laws had their eyes on Arun’s government job and committed the murder to secure the job. She further claimed that the body was kept inside the house for nearly four hours before being taken to the hospital, which raises more doubts about the circumstances of his death.
The police have taken note of the allegations and are investigating the matter. The cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report. More details will be released soon.
