Crime against Bankers

Bank Manager assaulted in Maharashtra for not speaking Marathi

Again an incident of attack and disrespect of Bank Manager has come to light. Bank of Maharashtra Manager posted in Maharashtra has been attacked and disrespected by MNS leaders and workers. MNS leaders have also threatened bank officials to only use Marathi language.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) assaulted a branch manager working in Bank of Maharashtra for not speaking Marathi. The MNS staged a protest at a Bank of Maharashtra branch in Ambernath over an alleged refusal to use Marathi in banking transactions. The argument quickly turned into a heated protest inside the bank.

MNS workers misbehaved with the bank manager and even thrashed his computer. A high voltage drama was created inside the bank. The bank manager defended himself, saying, “We are government employees and can be transferred anywhere in the country. If I am sent to Tamil Nadu tomorrow, I will have to learn Tamil. Learning a language takes time.” The MNS workers, countered by asking, “How much more time do you need to learn Marathi?

MNS Leaders Issue Warning

The protest was led by key MNS leaders, including city president Kunal Bhoir, city coordinator Swapnil Bagul, and Vidyarthi Sena district president Dhananjay Gurav. They warned the bank that if Marathi was not used in transactions, MNS would escalate its agitation in its signature aggressive style.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray had previously emphasized the importance of using Marathi in government and public sector offices during his Gudi Padwa speech. Following his instructions, the party has intensified its campaign to promote Marathi language use across Maharashtra.

MNS Targets SBI Over Non-Use of Marathi

Not only Bank of Maharashtra, but State Bank of India also fell victim to this act of leaders. On Tuesday, senior MNS leader Avinash Jadhav, along with city president Ravindra More and other activists, entered a State Bank of India (SBI) branch and removed English-language signboards. They met with bank officials, demanding that Marathi be prioritized in banking transactions.

Jadhav revealed that their visit was prompted by a complaint from a female customer, who reported that the bank was not using Marathi. He pointed out that even the manager’s cabin had signboards only in English. The MNS activists insisted that all signboards be changed to Marathi and criticized the bank for favoring non-Maharashtrian employees in higher positions.

According to Jadhav, 95% of the bank’s customers are Marathi speakers, yet the bank does not prioritize Marathi in its services. He accused the bank of disrespecting the local language and warned that if immediate changes were not made, the party would take stronger action.

MNS has announced that it will visit all government and private banks in Thane to enforce the use of Marathi. Jadhav issued a stern warning, stating that those refusing to adopt Marathi may face physical consequences.

“Wherever Marathi is disrespected, our hands and legs will do the talking,” he declared, indicating that MNS would take direct action against institutions failing to comply. As MNS escalates its campaign, banks and public sector institutions in Maharashtra may come under increasing pressure to ensure Marathi is given due importance in official transactions.

  1. There is 3 language policy to be followed. Public can protest in writing n given time for rectification. Destroying public property police should recover from the person. No room for any nonsense. We all are Indians n live in Bharath.

  2. We respect Marathi and of course we live in Maharashtra, eat in Maharashtra and find no doubt in having writing in Marathi language… Great

  3. Premchandya u can leave from Maharashtra and settle in your muluk. If you have no respect for this marathi people and language, you have no rights to stay here and eat their grown food.

  4. This is the problem with people who have not done a single day’s of honest hard work. In Banks, we use Hindi as the official language followed by English & Local language. Our Country has multiple Languages & dialects & Transferable people suffer the most. This act of beating up people engaged in Public iService is deplorable, reprehensible & shameful.
