Police in Lucknow have arrested a former sales manager for the sexual exploitation of a bank employee. The victim reported that the accused threatened to share her private photos with her family, which he used as leverage to rape her repeatedly. She also alleged that he physically assaulted her whenever she resisted his advances.
Details of the Case
The Gomtinagar police registered a case based on the victim’s complaint on Sunday and apprehended the suspect, identified as Lariba Zaidi, on Monday. According to Inspector Rajesh Tripathi, Zaidi has already been dismissed from his position at the bank. The victim, a resident of Gomtinagar, had been employed in the finance department of a private bank for two years, during which she developed a friendship with Zaidi.
Nature of the Exploitation
The victim recounted that Zaidi lured her into private meetings under the guise of love, where he subsequently raped her. When she attempted to distance herself, he pressured her to marry him and continued to exploit her by blackmailing her with secretly taken photos from their encounters.
Threats and Violence
The victim further alleged that Zaidi would come to her home to intimidate her, threatening to harm her family if she resisted. He also pressured her to travel to Dubai with him. On Saturday morning, Zaidi reportedly visited her home, verbally abused her, and physically assaulted her when she protested. Following this incident, she informed her family, who encouraged her to file a complaint with the police.
