Bank Branches might not open on Sunday for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Payment

As per the latest updates, some of the banks – Union Bank, Canara Bank have withdrawn the circular to open bank branches on Sunday (3 August 2025). As per reports, Bank of Baroda branches also might not be opened, though official communication is awaited.

Recently, the public sector banks in India have been ordered to open branches on Sunday (3 August 2025) to facilitate payments of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. The Prime Minister of India will release the 20th installment to the eligible PM KISAN Farmers on 2nd August 2025 (Saturday).

The Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance has directed the Banks to keep open the Branches from 29th July to 2nd August 2025 along with the following day i.e. 3rd August 2025 (Sunday) to enable payment to the beneficiaries on the due date event.

UFBU took up the matter with the DFS and employees united against this order. As a result, the branches of some banks will not open on Sunday.
